After spending the week in Boston working on the budget it was nice to spend the day in Shrewsbury and Westborough. I joined the Shrewsbury Board of Selectmen at the highway barn today to thank all the folks who worked hard all winter keeping our town roads plowed and safe to drive. The selectmen each cooked/made part of the lunch enjoyed by all. I, then, joined Senator Mike Moore at the Shrewsbury Senior Center as the senior center volunteers were acknowledged and thanked for all their volunteer service hours. The Assabet Valley Regional Technical HS cooked and served a delicious meal! After that I got to watch a falcon who had been injured and rehabilitated at Tufts be released back into the wild at the Fish and Wildlife headquarters in Westborough. A beautiful bird who will now start his journey back to upper NY or Canada. One of the budget amendments that I co-sponsored last week was to provide Tufts Veterinary School with an additional $1M back into their budget. As someone who has used Tufts on more than one occasion, for more than one pet, I was pleased to be able to help restore some of their budget that had been reduced in the initial FY16 budget.
