Beth and I stopped at the Westborough Food Pantry board meeting tonight to drop off the $15,000 raised at the golf tournament to support the tremendous work done by the WFP volunteers!!
Congratulations to Westborough Fire Department members Mark Boyer and Nicholas Ostrander who graduated from the MA Firefighting Academy today in Career Recruit Firefighter Class #232!
Tonight my friends from the Hindu Service Society taught me about Raksa Bandhana - loosely translated as the "Protection Connection" that includes tying a string (Rakhis) around someone's wrist to illustrate that we should all love and protect each other. Members of HSS have met with many civic leaders and public safety officers through out the country and tied Rakhis on them. Members of the Shrewsbury Board of Selectmen joined me tonight and the HSS leaders Geena and Udgith told me that the Shrewsbury Board had participated in Raksa Bandhana in 2005 in the same room. It was wonderful to see the youth tying the other youth and sharing in an universal effort to promote being better citizens in our world and to be non-violent and truthful in our interactions.
Patrick joined me to watch the MA Senior Games Pickle Ball Tournament today at Shrewsbury Athletic Club that my friend Davis Cox told me about. According to one of the players it is the fastest growing sport in the US. Patrick remarked that the players were "very stretchable!"
Brotherly love in its best form! James Canzano organized his 4th Annual Kicking Butt for Crohn's 5K to raise funds for Crohn's research, a disease that affects both of James' sisters. Proud to sponsor a young man with such compassion and to help fund research of a terrible disease that 2 of my own cousins suffer from.
Congrats to my intern, Nick Pham, for completing his internship with me at the State House. Nick will be starting his junior year at UConn soon. We are appreciative of all of Nick's hard work and will miss him!

So grateful to all the sponsors, golfers, donors and our fabulous host committee and volunteers for making the Inaugural Hannah Kane Charity Classic a success on Monday. The generosity shown by many enabled us to raise $45,000 for St. Anne’s Human Services, Westborough Food Pantry and Shrewsbury Youth and Family Services. Each charity received a check for $15,000, allowing them to do more to support members of our community who need a helping hand. We were fortunate to have beautiful weather (a little on the warm side) and The Haven Country Club was a terrific host. Looking forward to next year!

The India Society of Worcester held their 27th annual India Day to celebrate the Indian community in MA, while commemorating India's Independence and celebrating Indian culture. I was honored to help lead the parade and enjoyed seeing many friends, watching the fantastic performances, touring the exhibits and eating the delicious food!
