This morning I hosted Keolis at Shrewsbury Town Hall, along with my colleagues, Sen. Mike Moore and Rep. David Muradian. Officials from Shrewsbury, Westborough and Grafton joined us to hear the winter resiliency work and emergency preparedness planning that has been completed by Keolis, the commuter rail operator, and the MBTA. Major take-away - they are ready!
Congratulations to Framingham State University on the opening of their new Hemenway Laboratories, a new 58,000 square foot state-of-the-art lab space. Speaker Robert Deleo, Senate Ways and Means Chairwoman Karen Spilka and several of my colleagues in the House Reps. Dykema, Walsh, Sannicandro and Gentile joined in the ribbon cutting for the new center piece of the FSU campus, who saw a 58% increase in STEM students in the last 5 years!
Two packed hearing rooms this afternoon for the Joint Committee on Public Health's hearing on H1991, an Act affirming a terminally ill patient's right to compassionate aid in dying. Very moving testimony being given offered by people who feel passionate on each side of this deeply personal issue.

Grand re-opening at Assabet Valley Regional Technical HS this morning. The building looks fabulous and will serve our voc tech students from Shrewsbury and Westborough well for many years to come! Thanks to the MSBA and the member communities for their financial support of the rehabilitation of Assabet!
Great meeting of the MetroWest Veterans Consortium organized by Rep. Carolyn Dykema and hosted this morning in Shrewsbury at UMASS Medical School offices. We had an update on the progress of the MA Veterans Long-term Care and Housing Master Plan Commission, an overview of Veterans Inc. new outpatient substance abuse recovery support services and also an update on the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Framingham.
Busy day today! Started out at You Inc. Annual meeting where Secretary Sudders of Health and Human Services spoke about the opioid epidemic and the changes going on at DCF. Had a 10am Transportation Hearing and a Public Health Hearing at 1pm, with a Financial Literacy Task Force Meeting that included a beautiful view of the State House and down the Charles. Looking forward to a Women in Government reception this evening!
Spent several hours today at the Worcester locations of Veterans Inc. Grateful to Vin, Denis, Jason and Melissa for their terrific overviews of the critical work that Veterans Inc. does to serve our vets.
